BEST FITNESS, THE BEST PEOPLE

So this past weekend I attended the Olympia Expo. For those of you who don’t know the expo is a fitness and nutritional supplement convention that takes place along with the Mr. Olympia competition. It is by far my favorite event of the year. All the top names in the supplement industry attend as well as top names in Bodybuilding and fitness modeling. There is also the occasional actor or musician that is present. At the expo you can meet a bunch of people. This past Saturday I did just that. So now to the point. If you think about it Bodybuilding and modeling are based on how people look. It is in essence a show of aesthetics. Phil Heath won the title this year because he has the best body on stage. Unfortunately … Read entire article »

MEN’S PHYSIQUE

So it is a known fact that bodybuilders are bigger than your average guy. In fact over the past ten years or so, bodybuilders have been getting bigger. Arnold competed at around 235 in the 1970s whereas Jay Cutler comes in about thirty pounds heavier. When you’re talking body fat under 5% that additional thirty pounds adds up to a lot of muscle. The thing is though that not everyone can achieve those weights. There are those who can put on pounds of muscle with ease, then those who through years of hard work. Still there are those that genetics says are never going to be in that same weight class as Arnold, Jay or even smaller guys like Dexter Jackson. In the United States everything is about big. We eat big … Read entire article »

BODYBUILDING

It has been around for over a hundred years. Like any other sport you train for it. Unlike every other sport your training is the only thing that separates the winners from the losers. It is bodybuilding. An obscure sport to some, not even a sport to others. To some it is a way of life. Bodybuilding dates back to the late 1800s. Its roots can effectively be traced back to one man, Eugen Sandow. Sandow was a Prussian weightlifter who is today considered “The Father of Bodybuilding” He left his home country in 1885 and traveled to England where he appeared on stages in London as part of a traveling variety show. Sandow would put on a strongman act for audiences. It was here that he was seen by famed stage producer Florenz … Read entire article »

INDUSTRY OUT OF CONTROL

INDUSTRY OUT OF CONTROL. I love the fitness industry. Even when I was eating a steady diet of everything bad and living sedentary. I’ve always loved gyms and health food/supplement stores. Here is the thing though, like any big industry there is corruption. All right maybe financial establishments and the alike have corruption that is illegal and lands people in prison, there is nothing that extreme but the fitness industry is not faultless. The fitness industry is a multibillion-dollar industry. There are a number of great gym establishments, exercise products, books, videos, supplements and more. So where is the corruption? Unlike banking where some executive scams investors or steals money from behind his desk you can see the fitness industry corruption in stores and even in your own home. Walk into any retail … Read entire article »
